| Q:Does the Portamatic use a nail or a staple? |
A: The Portamatic fires the 2" Porta-Nail specifically designed not to split the tongue of your flooring. The nail's wedge shape and grapple barb design provides for the greatest impact and holding power for a tighter, longer hold for your hardwood floor, ensuring that your floor stays put for a lifetime.
|
| Q: Do you have to go back and set unseated nails? |
A: No. The Portamatic is designed to efficiently and effectively seat the nails under designed operating conditions. Unseated nails are a result of operating the tool outside of its design parameters of 90-100psi. You should inspect your tool prior to use to ensure it is in good operating order.

| Q: I am nailing into the groove of the flooring; is this correct? |
A: No. You should be nailing into the tongue side of the flooring.
|
| Q: How much space should be allotted between fasteners? |
A: You should always refer to the flooring manufacturers recommendations for installation requirements. Generally, every 6 to 8 inches is a good rule of thumb.

A: 1,000 nails will install 200 square feet of flooring.

A: Yes. PNI is proud of the products it manufacturers and warrants them to free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year for the date of purchase.

A: No. The Portamatic is activated by hitting the ram of the Nailer with a mallet. This provides impact to the tool, which is transferred to the flooring to tighten the floor joints.
|
| Q: I am installing pre-finished flooring; will the Portamatic mar or scratch the surface of the flooring? |
A: Care needs to be taken when installing a pre-finished product. The Portamatic's shoe bases and the mallet's rubber caps are made of a non-marring material to protect the surface of your flooring.
